Tree Lighting in Clayton NC
Saturday, December 6, 2008 by Donna.
The Annual Tree Lighting in Historic Downton Clayton NC on December 4th was a great time for all. The town estimated that 3,000 - 3,500 were in attendance this year. Way more then the estimated $2,500 from last year.
Local businesses opened their doors to patrons, handing out sweets and treats and yes “Blinky’s”. Patron’s did a little Christmas shopping, viewed art by local artist at the Eye of the Eagle Art Gallery, while Bell Ringers played, the Chorus sang and Dancers Danced. There was a live nativity, Doggy Parade and whole lot more.
The Clayton High School Marching Comets then lead the way to Town Square for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting. Of course the Marching Comets where fantastic and I may be a bit biased since my son is a Junior and plays the Trumpet in the band. But there were great and I love listening to them play.
ABC 11 Eyewitness News morning anchor Barbara Gibbs was the special guest host/emcee for the evening along with Clayton Mayor Jody McLeod.
It is really begining to look a lot like Christmas.
Please vist the Clayton Downtown Shops and Galleries for that one of a kind gift, dinner, or live music this holiday season and yes, don’t forget the Eye of the Eagle Art Gallery and Art Supplies. We are near the railroad tracks right behind the Pizzaz Thrift Store.

Frank Creech Art Gallery Fundraiser at Johnston Community Art
Thursday, November 13, 2008 by admin.
I took a ceramic class with Frank Creech. And the funny thing was, Tyler, my son, had Mrs. Creech for his 5th grade teacher.
Frank was a good teacher and I learned a lot for the little time I had class with him. I also learned that he didn’t like it when you brushed on the glaze instead of globing it, or pouring it on. He was frustrated with me a few times for brushing it on thin. I still haven’t gotten the knack of applying glaze and I think of Frank every-time I apply it to a piece.
But if you are local to the area of Johnston County NC, they are offering raffle tickets, donation $1, for a $150 gas card. All proceeds go towards the Frank Creech Art Gallery Fundraiser.
