Richard McDaniel - Pastelist/Painter

I love pastels, but not too many artist that I know work in Pastels. I love how they mix together and can be easily removed. I have tried mixing colors in Acrylics, but I end up with mud most of the time, or I can’t repeat a color I mixed a while ago. It could be because I also don’t like wasting anything and I only mix a little at a time. I’m sure that is one of my problems. Plus a few more.

But Richard McDaniel is a Pastelist and works with oils, so I guess that makes him an Oil Painter as well. But it is his pastels that drew me into his website.  Especially the ones on his landing page. The blues, in the first picture you see, just hit me. If you put your mouse over that picture, it changes and then the pinks come alive.

He had given a workshop in Fayetteville, NC in April/May, that I didn’t know about. I would have loved to attend his workshop.

Well you need to check out his work for your self. You can do that by clicking on the link below.

Mary Brown - Local NC Artist

alone.jpgMary was born in Phoenix, Arizona in 1970, and grew up surrounded by diverse colors of the desert. The Vibrant colors of the Arizona sunsets, with reds, oranges and yellows set her appreciation for the impact of colors, lights and shadows.

She began drawing at the age of five and after attending her first art class in high school, she decided to looke at her talents and art more seriously. She continued to draw, but incorporated more independent studies of the different art forms, and techniques.

Mary now lives in Princeton, North Carolina with her husband James and two children, Shane and Rebecca.
